In Touch Installation and Configuration Guide

This article will show you how to download and install the In Touch software onto your computer. Screenshots are included to assist you through the process. The following topics are covered:

Installing In Touch

  • Click the link to download the installer from the In Touch Set Up page. You will receive a link to that page from your welcome e-mail after you sign up.
  • Save the installer to a known location on your hard drive (such as your Desktop).
  • After downloading the installer, open the installer icon which will begin the installation. (Note: If a window is displayed stating your operating system does not know how to open ".msi" files, you will need to install the Windows Installer Engine before proceeding).

  • After clicking "Next", you will be prompted to choose the location that you want to save the file to.

  • After clicking "Next", you will be asked to confirm the installation of the program. Do so by clicking "Next".

  • Once the program is installed, you will see the screen below asking for the UM Phone number, PIN number, and the server.
This information will be provided to you in your welcome e-mail after you have signed up for your service.
  • After entering this information, the Call Manager is completely installed and ready to configure and use.

Advanced Configuration
When the Call Manager is running, you will see an icon in the System Tray that looks like a telephone. Right-click on this icon and click "Configuration" to configure the settings for how you can handle incoming calls while you are online.

After doing so, you will see the below screen. Under the "General" tab, you can set which phone numbers you would like to be able to forward an incoming call to.

If you click the "Address Book" button, you can change the way caller ID displays the incoming call based on a persons phone number and whatever you type in for a name.

If you click the "Advanced" button, you can specify an additional voicemail notification address as well as indicate which numbers you can check voicemail messages from.

Under the "In Touch" tab, you can set the program to automatically respond to incoming calls and how to handle them.

Under the "Networking" tab, you will see the same screen shown at the end of the installation where you are asked to enter the UM Phone # and the PIN.

Troubleshooting
If the In Touch client fails to connect to our servers, it will attempt to reconnect every 60 seconds. If you have verified that your internet connection is currently working and it still does not work, check on the following:

  • In the Networking tab under the In Touch configuration, make sure that your UM Number is set to your In Touch number. Also verify that your pin is correct. If you have changed your pin at any point, it will need to be updated on the In Touch program.
  • Make sure your firewall has allowed IcwClient access to port 7341

If you receive and error of "unknown file type," or when you double click on the installation file you downloaded and it does not start the installation process, then you may not have the Windows Installer Engine installed on your system. These are the links for the installer engine. Only install the engine that is relevant to your system.
