E-mail > Email disconnects
The modem seems to disconnect while I write an e-mail

Typically a dialup modem will disconnect from the Internet after being idle for 15 minutes. If you are on dialup service, you may find it easier to compose your messages, and then connect to the Internet to send your messages.

As an alternative, you can also set your modem to have a different timeout length by following this FAQ.

The Acceptable Use Policy prohibits automated access to try to keep the line connected while you aren't using it. For an always-on connection, you may want to consider a DSL connection.
