DSL > DSL Bandwidth Management
How does USFamily.Net Manage DSL Bandwidth?

Low cost DSL is intended for interactive single family usage, including web surfing and email. It is not intended for multi-user server or file sharing operations. Metered DSL is available for server or heavy usage needs.

To prevent excessive utilization of Internet bandwidth by heavy users, USFamily.Net pools these users into a group that shares a limited amount of bandwidth. Heavy users are defined as those transferring more than 15GB of data in a 30-day rolling period (usage from 1am to 5am is not counted in this calculation). Approximately 1-5 percent of DSL users fall into this category.

If our systems places you into the heavy user group, we will sent out an automated email message informing you of this. You also may view your usage statistics. Click here for instructions.
